Red velvet waffles with buttermilk ice cream


Recipe:

3/4 cups flour

1/4 cup cornstarch

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

Pinch of salt

1 tbs cocoa powder

1/4 cup sugar

1 cup buttermilk

1 egg

2 tsp red food colouring

2 tbs vegetable oil

1 tsp vanilla extract

1. Sift together dry ingredients into a medium bowl. Whisk in sugar.

2. Whisk together remaining wet ingredients in another bowl.

3. Fold in wet ingredient to dry ingredients until dry ingredients are thoroughly combined. Mixture will still be slightly lumpy

4. Leave mixture to rest for 10 min. Meanwhile, oil and preheat waffle iron.

5. Cook waffle batter according to manufacturer instructions until well cooked and crispy. Serve immediately or keep warm in a 100C oven.
