These flowers are really tiny. I like the effect even though I was a little too close for a sharp focus. My eyes can no longer see the screen in bright sunlight. I think they should be called African Purple Basil.
I have discovered that the whole flower stalk of this plant is soft, and edible. The flower stalk can be used, just as the leaves are, as a spice They can be eaten either cooked or freshly sprinkled on salads and other foods...
Very very delicious!
