Mince pie

a.k.a. Mincemeat pie, Christmas pie, Mutton pie, Shrid pie

The classic mince pie originated from England, but there are variants found in different parts of the world. Traditionally this pie would be served around the Christmas season.

The sweet filling for this pie is made of minced beef, shredded beef suet, chopped apples, apple juice, zest and juice from a lemon and orange, brown sugar, dried fruits (currants, raisins, and sultanas), candied fruits (citron, lemon, and orange peels), spices (allspice, cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg), and salt.

It was baked in a homemade pie crust, then dusted with powdered sugar before serving.

Beverage: English Tea Store’s ‘St. Paul’s London Breakfast' black tea. Sweetened with clover honey and a splash of milk.
