A New York Green Book with Jacques Slade | A New Green Book
The legacy of A New Green Book continues as Jacques Slade curates his New York City Green Book. Along the way he’ll traverse the five borough’s iconic Black owned restaurants, museums, and cultural centers. Jacques starts his journey in Seneca Village, the first settlement of Black people in New York where Central Park currently stands. He then heads to Harlem and visits the Brunch Harlem restaurant with Musa Jackson, Harriette Cole, and Nikoa Evans who share stories of why Harlem is so important to Black people everywhere. In Brooklyn Jacques visits Heal Haus, a Black-owned wellness center dedicated to healing ancestral trauma. He also learns the origin of NYC Caribbean culture at Kokomo’s, a Caribbean restaurant where he learns how to stilt-walk before he hits the kitchen of Breuklyn Tequila & Taco Bar, a fusion restaurant taking soul food to the next level! In the boogie down Bronx Jacques gets a private tour of the Universal Hip Hop Museum where he meets Grand Wizard Theodore, the man who invented both scratching and the needle drop and where Pete Nice of 3rd Bass blesses him with some legendary bling. And if that’s not enough, he concludes his journey at the original home of Victor Hugo Green, the late creator of the first Green Book who we respectfully dedicate this New Green Book to. #ANewGreenBook ___________ Subscribe to Tastemade: https://bit.ly/3PSFkYm LIKE us on Facebook: https://bit.ly/3Bs9oG6 FOLLOW us on Instagram: https://bit.ly/3vzyq2b FIND us on Snapchat Discover: https://bit.ly/3SgEbLQ JOIN us on Tastemade Makers: https://bit.ly/3Jo21Bf
