Spring Garden

Spring Garden

The image of this dish at the link below is what made me make a reservation at the Members' Dining Room at the Met, one my favorite restaurants in the city. The fact that of all the current exhibits, especially the (frankly, pandering, in my opinion) more popular and blockbuster-ish exhibit, China Through the Looking Glass, Chef Sabo decided to focus his seasonal menu on the 4 Van Gogh paintings of irises and roses, made it especially charming. As you can see, the first course that is supposed to evoke a spring garden is very pretty, as well as absolutely delicious. But one thing is different. I was expecting pineberries, not regular strawberries in the dish as it is shown on the site. But as I know getting them is a bit iffy at times, I did not mind so much. And getting to eat such pretty flowers is always a delightful experience. I liked the pool of dressing in the center that I practically licked the plate clean... with the bread, not my tongue. I ordered my menu with the wine accompaniment.
