You can also find milk bread recipes on modernasianbaking.com For the perfect Tangzhong to add to any milk bread recipe - 3 tablespoons bread flour - ½ cup milk or plant-based milk Stovetop Method: 1. In a small saucepan, whisk together the bread flour and milk over medium heat. 2. Continue to cook, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens and forms a smooth paste. This should take about 2 to 3 minutes. 3. Once thickened, remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes before adding it to your milk bread dough ingredients. Microwave Method: 1. In a microwave-safe bowl, whisk together the bread flour and milk until smooth. 2. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture thickens to a paste-like consistency. 3. Allow the Tangzhong to cool before adding it to your milk bread dough. For a delicious ube halaya miso butter recipe to pair with milk bread: Ingredients: - 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened - 2 tablespoons ube halaya - 1 teaspoon red miso 1. Mix all the ingredients together until combined. Use this mixture as a spread for your ube milk bread. Enjoy!

🍓 Easy Strawberry Shortcakes Recipe by @alexander_bakes Makes 4 shortcakes For the shortcakes: - ¾ cup all purpose flour - ¼ cup almond flour - ¼ cup medium grind cornmeal - 2 tbsp granulated sugar, plus more for topping - 1 ½ tsp baking powder - ¼ tsp kosher salt - 4 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into cubes - ½ cup buttermilk (or cream) For the strawberries: - 2 cups strawberries, halved or quartered - 3 tbsp granulated sugar For the whipped cream: - 1 cup heavy cream - 2 tbsp granulated sugar - 1 tsp vanilla bean paste Instructions: 1. Preheat the oven to 375ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. 2. Add the flour, almond flour, cornmeal, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt to a mixing bowl. Whisk to combine. 3. Add the butter cubes and pinch into the flour to break it down into a breadcrumb consistency. 4. Add the buttermilk and stir until a shaggy dough forms and no flour streaks remain. 5. Scoop ¼ cup portions of batter onto the baking sheet. Sprinkle 1 ½ teaspoons sugar on top of each biscuit. 6. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, until cracked on top and brown on the bottom. Remove and let cool. 7. Meanwhile, stir together the strawberries and granulated sugar in a small bowl. Set aside to macerate for 10 minutes. 8. Whip the cream, sugar, and vanilla bean paste to medium peaks. 9. Split the biscuits in half and cover the bottom piece with whipped cream. Juicy Chicken Shawarma kicks off Episode 1 of No Passport Needed where we make global street food accessible at home from @theboldappetite. - 1 tsp ground cumin - 1 tsp ground coriander - 1 tsp onion powder - 1 tsp cayenne pepper - 1 tsp Spanish paprika - 1 tsp sweet paprika - 1 tsp turmeric - ½ tsp dried oregano - ½ tsp allspice - ¼ tsp ground cardamom - 3½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs - 1 tsp tomato paste - 5 garlic cloves, grated - 1 lemon, juiced - ¼ cup olive oil - Kosher salt - 1 Roma tomato - 1 white onion, roughly chopped 1. Combine the spices in a small bowl 2. Place the chicken thighs in a large bowl, and add the tomato paste, grated garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, spice mixture, and a heavy pinch of kosher salt (approx. ½ tsp). 3. Mix thoroughly and marinate in the fridge—preferably overnight, or at least 1 hour. 4. Preheat the oven to 400°F/200°C. 5. Layer the chicken on the at-home vertical spit, rotating each thigh to ensure an even stack. 6. Place the tomato on top and scatter the roughly chopped onions at the bottom. Depending on the thickness of the thighs, roasting can take anywhere from 1 hour to 1 hour and 20 minutes. Every 20 minutes, baste the chicken with the rendered juices. Roast until fully cooked through (165°F). 7. Once done, remove from the oven, and shave the chicken off the spit. 8. Serve in a pita or laffa with your choice of suggested toppings below. Make the citrus-herb dressing: Whisk together the honey, mint, basil, lemon zest and juice, and salt in a small bowl or jar. Set aside. 2. Salmon Rice and Onigiri Rice Cooker Recipe 🍣🍚 @katlieu Serves 4-5 Ingredients: - 2 cups uncooked short-grain rice - 2 tablespoons soy sauce - 1 tablespoon mirin - Dash of MSG - 1 tablespoon sesame oil - 1 slender sweet potato, washed - 1/2 cup frozen peas or edamame - 1 pound salmon - Barbecue sauce for salmon + seasoning of choice Instructions: 1. Wash the rice in a colander until the water runs clear (or soak rice in a bowl to wash, repeat until water runs clear). 2. Add rice to the rice cooker inner bowl and the correct amount of water, as specified by the rice cooker's manufacturer instructions. Usually it's a 1:1 ratio of rice to water. 3. Add the soy sauce, mirin, MSG, and sesame oil to the water. Add the potato to the center and the edamame or peas. 4. Lay the salmon over the potato and season with barbecue sauce and other seasonings such as salt, MSG, and white or black pepper. 5. Cook for 1 cycle on MIXED setting or regular cook setting. If the potato is still a little hard, poke some holes all over it with a fork and microwave for 2 minutes on HIGH. #salmon #rice #ricecooker #ricecookerrecipes

Chimichurri Chicken Kebabs🍗 extremely addicting tender grilled chicken slathered with bright, tangy & garlicky chimichurri sauce by @forgetthetakeout Ingredients: - 2 lbs chicken breast, cubed - 1/4 C olive oil - 2T red wine vinegar - 1 garlic clove, minced - 1T dried oregano Chumichurri - 1/2 C parsley, chopped - 1/2 C cilantro, chopped - 1T dried oregano - 3 garlic cloves, chopped - 2T shallots (sub red onion), minced - 1T red wine vinegar - 1/2 C olive oil - 1T lemon zest - 1 lemon, juiced - 1 tsp red pepper flakes - 1 tsp salt Directions 1. Mix together olive oil, vinegar and oregano for marinade. Cut breasts into 1-in cubes and place in marinade for at least 30 minutes. At the same time, submerge 4-6 wood skewers in water. 2. When chicken is ready, skewer them tightly. Season with salt and place on grill or heated skillet. Cook roughly 4-6 minutes each side, or until grill marks appear & internal temp reaches 165 degrees. 3. For chimichurri mix together all ingredients, brush on chicken skewers and enjoy! (I served mine with roasted red potatoes 🥔) #kebab #chimichurri #chicken

Chimichurri Chicken Kebabs🍗 extremely addicting tender grilled chicken slathered with bright, tangy & garlicky chimichurri sauce by @forgetthetakeout Ingredients: - 2 lbs chicken breast, cubed - 1/4 C olive oil - 2T red wine vinegar - 1 garlic clove, minced - 1T dried oregano Chumichurri - 1/2 C parsley, chopped - 1/2 C cilantro, chopped - 1T dried oregano - 3 garlic cloves, chopped - 2T shallots (sub red onion), minced - 1T red wine vinegar - 1/2 C olive oil - 1T lemon zest - 1 lemon, juiced - 1 tsp red pepper flakes - 1 tsp salt Directions 1. Mix together olive oil, vinegar and oregano for marinade. Cut breasts into 1-in cubes and place in marinade for at least 30 minutes. At the same time, submerge 4-6 wood skewers in water. 2. When chicken is ready, skewer them tightly. Season with salt and place on grill or heated skillet. Cook roughly 4-6 minutes each side, or until grill marks appear & internal temp reaches 165 degrees. 3. For chimichurri mix together all ingredients, brush on chicken skewers and enjoy! (I served mine with roasted red potatoes 🥔) #kebab #chimichurri #chicken

I’m Jamie Oliver, and I’m heading to Tunisia—a place where Mediterranean fresh meets Saharan spice. This trip was a total assault on the senses! I’m learning the "magic fingers" technique of Tunisian donuts (Bambalouni), joining a secret harvest ceremony to make couscous from scratch, and discovering why the "Pressure Cooker Pulao" has nothing on the Tunisian Koucha—lamb slow-cooked in a clay pot buried in the sand. 🇹🇳✨ I’m bringing that North African heat back home with two incredible recipes: a Crispy Prawn Brik (a shatteringly light pastry parcel with a runny egg inside) and a Smoky Merguez & Chicken Stew that turns humble pantry beans into a world-class feast.
