Jamie Oliver Cooks & Eats His Way Through Spain | Cooks the Mediterranean
I’m Jamie Oliver, and I’m in Spain to explore the incredible, deep flavors of Catalan cooking. I’m starting in the beautiful town of Cadaqués, cooking a traditional fish stew (Suquet) in a vineyard with a local fisherman, before heading to Barcelona to discover the "Willy Wonka" world of conservas—where the world's best food comes out of a tin! 🇪🇸✨
I’m bringing the spirit of the Spanish coast back home with two recipes that celebrate the "Sea and Mountain" vibe: Gorgeous Prawn and Ham Skewers served on smoky leeks and beans, and a Dark, Gnarly Pork Chop paired with crispy jarred artichokes and a "cheat's" alioli.
In this episode:
• The Vineyard Suquet: Learning why there is no real Catalan fish stew without the frightening-looking scorpion fish.
• The 10-Hour Sofrito: Discovering the secret "building block" of Spanish flavor—onions caramelized until they are intensely dark and sweet.
• Barcelona's Hidden Gem: A visit to the legendary Quimet & Quimet tapas bar to see why tinned seafood is a luxury delicacy.
• The Red Prawn Auction: Racing through the port of Palamós to see the world-renowned "Gambas" sold fresh off the boat.
