LA's Best Deli Sandwich is in the Back of a Liquor Store
I’m Stephanie Izard, and today I’m on a mission to find the most creative, comfort-focused sandwiches in Los Angeles. We aren't going to fancy cafes—we’re visiting liquor stores, backyard popups, and vegan hideaways to meet the chefs who are redefining what a sandwich can be. 🥪✨ First, we head to Jeff's Table, a secret deli hidden in the back of a Highland Park liquor store. Jeff Strauss is blending his Jewish heritage with Chinese spices to create "Miso-Cured Roast Beef" and a house-made pastrami that has to be tasted to be believed. Then, we join Mignon Alexandria at Champignon Eats, where she’s using mushrooms to create vegan "Lion’s Mane Popcorn Chicken" and "Cheesy Fun-Guy" burgers. Finally, we visit Shea and Bonnie at Happy Mediums, a backyard deli serving up "McDuffulettas" on house-baked focaccia that takes five days to prep. In this video: • The Liquor Store Deli: Jeff Strauss explains how miso tenderizes meat and why every sandwich is better with a "frico" cheese crisp. • Backyard Focaccia: Shea and Bonnie demonstrate the 36-hour process for their Porchetta di testa and why they use 80 individual cast iron pans for their bread. • The Comfort Connection: Why the best sandwiches are always inspired by childhood memories and family traditions. Which of these would you try first: The Miso-Cured Roast Beef or the 5-Day Porchetta? Let’s talk sandwiches in the comments! 👇 _______________________________________________________ Subscribe to Tastemade: https://bit.ly/3PSFkYm JOIN us at Tastemade+: https://ift.tt/PV2kpWQ LIKE us on Facebook: https://bit.ly/3Bs9oG6 FOLLOW us on Instagram: https://bit.ly/3vzyq2b FIND us on Snapchat Discover: https://bit.ly/3SgEbLQ
