Happened to have all the ingredients, but not on purpose. I used an 8x8 Pyrex glass baking pan.
Boil half a box of De Cecco elbow macaroni. Meanwhile, start the béchamel by melting about 2 tbsp butter in a 2 qt saucier and cooking slices of garlic in it. Add a couple of tablespoons of AP flour and whisk. Add a cup or a little more of whole milk. Check thickness. If just right, add about 6 oz cheddar cheese grated. Season if necessary.
Drain cooked pasta and add to pan and stir to coat. Dump whole thing into baking dish and cover with a thin layer of panko. I grated some truffle gruyere over for a bit of luxury. Baked in a 350 oven for about 30 mins, then saw that the top wasn't brown at all so I turned on the broiler and carefully watched it so it didn't burn. This was the result. Next time, I'm just going to broil the top because the baking sort of dried out the pasta.
