a.k.a. 銀絲糖 / Silver silk candy, Chinese cotton candy
These delicate confections began as a doughnut-shaped puck of cooled, malleable sugar before it was coated in cornstarch, hand-pulled, then doubled. This process was repeated a total of 14 times resulting in 16,384 fine strands of sugar. The long strands were then trimmed to a smaller size and wrapped around a mixture of desiccated coconut, chopped roasted peanuts, and toasted white sesame seeds.
