A Bienenstich (trsl: "bee-sting-cake") is a traditional German cake made from a brioche-like yeasted dough baked with a topping from honey and almonds (that’s where the name giving bees come in), filled with a vanilla filling, often custard or German buttercream (mixture of pastry cream with butter).
